Punishment of Rajam:-

In the whole of the Quran only THREE types of punishments are clearly ordained:

4:15 If any of your women are guilty of lewdness take the evidence of four (reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify confine them to houses until death do claim them or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.

4:16 If two men among you are guilty of lewdness punish them both.  If they repent and amend leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning Most Merciful.

*** For the same type of offence, the punishment for women (Lesbianism) is disproportionately greater than for men (Homosexuality)***

5:38 "As to the thief male or female cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example from Allah for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in Power.

24:2        The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication flog each of them with a hundred stripes: let not compassion move you in their case in a matter prescribed by Allah if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.

*** Sharia' law follows not the Quran but the Sunna (Examples) of Muhammad who instead, put such people to death by stoning.

This is explained by a tradition in Ahadith that the abrogating verse of the above was among 127 verses that were lost on the day Muhammad died ***

24:4        And those who launch a charge against chaste women and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegation) flog them with eighty stripes: and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors
All other punishments are from the Ahadith.

Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 4356        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Umar
Some people raided the camels of the Prophet (peace be upon him), drove them off, and apostatised. They killed the herdsman of the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) who was a believer. He (the Prophet) sent (people) in pursuit of them and they were caught. He had their hands and feet cut off, and their eyes put out. The verse regarding fighting against Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him) was then revealed. These were the people about whom Anas ibn Malik informed al-Hajjaj when he asked him.

Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 4359        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas
The verse "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite side or exile from the land...most merciful" was revealed about polytheists. If any of them repents before they are arrested, it does not prevent from inflicting on him the prescribed punishment which he deserves.

Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 4467        Narrated byMu'awiyah ibn AbuSufyan
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If they (the people) drink wine, flog them, again if they drink it, flog them. Again if they drink it, kill them.

Al-Muwatta Hadith  Hadith 42.2  The Hadd for Drinking Wine
Yahya related to me from Malik from Thawr ibn Zayd ad-Dili that Umar ibn al-Khattab asked advice about a man drinking wine. Ali ibn Abi Talib said to him, "We think that you flog him for it with eighty lashes. Because when he drinks, he becomes intoxicated, and when he becomes intoxicated, he talks confusedly, and when he talks confusedly, he lies." (80 lashes is the same amount as for slandering) Umar gave eighty lashes for drinking wine.

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 8.816/7        Narrated byIbn Abbas
'Umar said, "I am afraid that after a long time has passed, people may say,

'We do not find the Verses of the Rajam (stoning to death) in the Holy Book,' and consequently they may go astray by leaving an obligation that Allah has revealed.

Lo! I confirm that the penalty of Rajam be inflicted on him who commits illegal sexual intercourse, if he is already married and the crime is proved by witnesses or pregnancy or confession." Sufyan added, "I have memorized this narration in this way." 'Umar added, "Surely Allah's Apostle carried out the penalty of Rajam, and so did we after him."

*** Contrary to Umar's assertions, there are no verses in the Quran that instruct punishment by stoning.

If there were such verses and they have not been recorded, then the Quran cannot be complete and by logic cannot be the 'word of Allah'.

This Hadith has astounding implications regarding the completeness of the Quran since if Umar is right - in spite of the fact that there are no verses in the Quran regarding Rajam - then the Quran is not complete, and in this case reflects extremely badly as to its verasity and those of the traditions ***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 8.824        Narrated byAsh Shaibani
I asked 'Abdullah bin Abi 'Aufa about the Rajam (stoning somebody to death for committing illegal sexual intercourse). He replied, "The Prophet carried out the penalty of Rajam," I asked, "Was that before or after the revelation of Surat-an-Nur (24:11-20) ?" He replied, "I do not know."

***The punishment for stoning to death is not recorded anywhere in the Quran.

This punishment is reported in the Ahadith only, whereby the Sunna of Muhammad over rules the Quran ***
